What is bail and why do I need a bail bondsman?
Bail is a fixed cash amount set by a county for release from custody for an alleged offense. These amounts vary from county to county. Sonoma County bail schedule
When someone is arrested, their bail is set at an amount according to the charges. The bail amount can be paid fully to the court or a bail bondsman can post a bail bond at a 10% fee of the full bail amount. For example: if the bail amount is set at $10,000 you have the option to pay $10,000 to the court or $1,000 to a bail bondsman. The bail bondsman will then post the bail bond to the jail and the individual will be released.
